14 Shot in Toronto

I found this interesting:

“Sukhera has no idea how Hussain could have got his hands on a gun, particularly since he didn’t have any money, Sukhera said.”

And this:

“On Tuesday, city council passed a motion asking the federal government to ban the sale of handguns in Toronto and asking the provincial government to ban the sale of handgun ammunition. Council also passed an as-yet-unfunded $44-million, five-year plan to address gun violence, including both community support and law enforcement measures.

The federal Liberals have been considering a handgun ban for some time, Goodale said, but emphasized that such a measure would be immensely complex.”

I wonder if the gun banners actually believe that such laws could have prevented this.

Laws can not bring it to zero, but they can reduce them. For instance I don’t have a license but I have friends who do. They can buy guns and sell them to me.

With a ban there are going to still be what is out there already but hopefully the amount of illegal guns dwindle back to just what is smuggled.

I do not see a problem with every new sale being registered. I also have no problem with a handgun ban. I can still get a hunting rifle or gun for camping to use in case of wildlife but I prefer bear spray personally.

Looks like this was terrorism.

Nope . They are always claiming responsibility for things and taking advantage of those who want to believe this terrorism because he is middle eastern.

Obviously he doesn’t.

It’s and interesting time to say no need for a gun, when 11 people were just shot by what looks to be a follower of ISIS each passing hour who had an illegal gun and was able to shoot into an armed crowd as will, regardless of gun laws. Seems like the time for an argument on why you should need a gun if anything.

… and was able to get it even though he had no money.

It is pretty certain that he did not act on his own, but rather was acting as the point of the spear.

Hey if you guys want to be duped by ISIS go for it.

I will listen to the people here investigating who so far have found no ties to this guy and ISIS.

Daesh took responsibility for Las Vegas too. How many believe that?

What law would have prevented this crime? Did he even obtain the gun lawfully?

Nope see Canada has a problem. You can try to have a nice and try not to expose your kids to swearing and porn. But your neighbor insists on watching porn with his windows open and throwing his used mags into your yard.

Same here we can sane gun laws but our southern neighbor doesn’t and likes spread it like cancer. So this guy got guns from the US.

I don’t think will ever learn what caused the Vegas shooter to do what he did. I never heard about him and ISIS though which sounds fairly ridiculous given his background of a high stakes gambler.

ISIS claimed responsibility. A GOP lawmaker was on FOX blaming them too.

Is this simply your supposition or have the police stated as much? Links?

No terrorism connection was ever found, they are still scratching their heads as to motive.

Personally with all the prep and the obvious level of training I think he was connected to terrorists somewhere but so far the police and fed’s maintain no such connections have been found.

The early reports were it came from the US but just now it was traced to break in that occurred in Saskatchewan.

Gun smuggling from the US is a problem here.

So it had nothing to do with guns from the US and no law that could have been passed would have prevented it.

Thanks for clearing it up.

This time no.

Laws dont stop child abuse should they be scorned too?

Child abuse laws are passed to punish offenders, not to prevent child abuse.

“Gun Laws” are supposedly the answer to “gun violence” but in reality as has long been shown in our country do little or nothing to reduce or prevent it.

Making criminals of otherwise law abiding people isn’t the solution to any problem.

Laws do not make criminals of the law abiding.
