10 commandments in school?

oh dear, oh dear… 10 commandments in public school? have to have a separation of church and state…

it seems that Moses is in the center place of honor above the Speaker of the House of Representatives… 10 commandments in the US congress?!?

How dare they tell people to not lie, steal, murder, etc…

Public forums are open to ALL comers.

If they post the Ten Commandments, then they must offer equivalent space to anything Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Satanists, etc, might want to post.

I would just prefer ALL imaginary friends be kept out of school.

security blankets take many forms… but the more exposure to various ideas and precepts for life the better…

The same folks who have no problem with deviants in dresses will have a meltdown over Godly values in schools.

The 10 commandments is not a bad set of rules for life; however these should be displayed as part of a larger discussion on responsibilities we all have from being part of a society and reference that other religions have similar tenets such as Islam and Judaism. I am sure there are others.

Don’t forget The Flying Spaghetti Monster:

But if you tell kids to honor their parents and to not bear false witness, you have to also put up murals of Muhammad and the 6 year old “wife” he was banging just to be fair. :face_vomiting:

2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

Take the imaginary friend stuff out of it and I would be fine with the do not kill, steal, adultery false witness and coveting text.

You poor triggered thing who hasn’t seen the inside of a school in several decades with no skin in the game.

Why not reference other religions that have similar commandments? Why does it have to be from the perspective of christianity. Why not embrace other religions?

This the challenge of brining religion into schools.

They’re called the 10 Utterances of The Lord, you uncivilized louts!

Triggered, it is to laugh.

You’re not laughing, you’re crying like this has anything to do with YOU.

It’s always a silly fight and they always lose after spending unnecessary amounts of money fighting it.

They are doomed to repeat and fail at these stupid shows of piety.

Plus, I am sure many of the legislators who voted for this crap have broken the adultery commandment.

I did not know that. Then why not have that as part of the display explaining different religions embrace the 10 Commandments and even for aethists these are good rules for any society. Bring in the non religious into this and there will be many kids who come from households which are aethist.

From my perspective LA has missed an opportunity to talk about civic responsibility. The Commandments could be a part of that.

Actually I am LAUGHING at Louisiana, who will probably spend millions defending this stupidity.

Nobody gives a ■■■■ about the stupid self-loathing atheists. ■■■■ them right in their stupid ears.

Okay that made me laugh.
