Cruise missile from Yemen strikes tanker ship -US officials

WASHINGTON, Dec 11 (Reuters) - A land-based cruise missile launched from Houthi-controlled Yemen struck a commercial tanker vessel, causing a fire and damage but no casualties, two U.S. defence officials told Reuters on Monday.

The attack on the tanker STRINDA took place about 60 nautical miles (111km) north of the Bab al-Mandab Strait about 2100 GMT, one of officials said. The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Mason was there and provided aid, the officials said.

The second official said the STRINDA was moving under its own power in the hours after the attack.

The chemical tanker is Norway flagged, and its Norwegian owner, Mowinckel Chemical Tankers, and manager Hansa Tankers could not be immediately reached for comment outside office hours. . . .

. . . On Saturday, the Houthis said they would target all ships heading to Israel, regardless of their nationality, and warned international shipping companies against dealing with Israeli ports.

The STRINDA had loaded vegetable oil and biofuels in Malaysia and was headed for Venice, Italy, data from shiptracking firm Kpler showed.

It was not immediately clear whether the STRINDA had any ties to Israel. . . .

My daughter is sailing into a â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â–  Not sure where exactly they will be located, just somewhere in the region.

Looks like Yemen needs to be reminded of their place in the world.

Which is pretty close to the bottom of the barrel.

a strike on one is a strike on all…

From 1918 to 1990 Yemen was two countries.
The blue part was 100% pro-soviet communist,
the orange part was a dictatorship with element so right-wing (pre-western) dictatorship and elements of Islamist dictatorship

Post cold war, they spent 24 years, (1990-2014)) united as one country, (1990-2014)
Now, they are basically two countries again divided roughly along the same line
but
the orange area is no longer called a separate country, it is called “rebel-held territory” and the “rebels” are loyal to Iran.

It has been this this way since 2014, (9 years) and we really should go back to calling it two countries, but no one checks with me before deciding on Middle Eastern nomenclature, so the world calls it one country with a very large rebel-held portion.
